Cooking Instructions:

  1. Pre-heat the oven temperature to 180 °C
  2. Prepare egg wash and coat the pastry
  3. Bake in the oven for 45-50 minutes.
  4. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Egg Wash:

  1. Mix egg plus 1 tablespoon of liquid (water, milk, or cream) in a small bowl with a fork until combined

2kg is a bit too big to handle. Need 2 persons to transfer from baking tray to a plate. Egg wash recipe is not good, does not give the right effect of a crust. No advice on which level of the oven this Wellington should be on. Becos of poor crust effect, we prolonged baking for another 15 min and the beef was overdone.

We were surprised at how solid the beef wellington was.
Beef was very tender and soft ….pastry was nice.
Baking instruction was clear and precious….HOWEVER hv not baked one before, so I baked in a tray , I had to keep checking for doneness, increase temp and extend baking time. As a result the pastry at the bottom was soggy.
SUGGESTION..may need to instruct correct way of baking ! !
